Us naturals have a lot to worry about when it comes to breakage! Our delicate hair needs protection since it can be so fragile, especially when transitioning. When you suffer from a lot of breakage, it can be hard to see growth. Keep reading if you want our tips and tricks to avoid hair breakage.
Don’t brush your hair dry.
Use a wide tooth comb in the shower or directly after while there is still moisture in your hair. Brush it softly to detangle, but don’t pull because that could lead to breakage!
Know when to get a trim or cut.
Split ends can travel up the hair shaft and cause even more breakage! Know when it’s time for a cut or trim.
Signs you need a trim:
- Your ends tangle a lot.
- You have a lot of single strand knots.
- Your ends never stay moisturized.
- Your ends don’t curl.
- Your ends are thin in twists.
- Your hair lacks volume.
Use a microfiber towel.
Cotton towels can cause a lot of friction leading to breakage! Not to mention they also produce more frizz. Opt for a microfiber towel instead of a soft t-shirt.
Sleep with a bonnet.
If you aren’t already, sleep with a silk bonnet! Not only does it protect your hair and keep all the goodness and moisture in your hair, but it also helps prevent breakage! When your hair rubs against the cotton of your pillow, it causes friction just like towels.
Take a break from the heat.
Heat is good when you are doing a hot oil treatment or deep conditioning treatment, but using hot tools on your hair frequently can really put a damper on your hair. Cut down on the heat and opt for more heatless styles like twists and braid outs and put the diffuser down!
Moisturize your hair and seal your ends.
The most important tip to keep your hair from breaking is MOISTURE, MOISTURE, AND MORE MOISTURE. The L.O.C. Method™ is the best way to keep your hair moisturized. Make sure you pay extra attention to your ends since that tends to be the driest and most damaged part of your hair.
Use Avocado Cream Moisture Repairing Mask.
Think your hair is damaged beyond repair? Think again! Avocado Cream Moisture Repairing Hair Mask comes to the rescue by providing deep, much-needed nourishment to each individual hair strand from root to tip.
Avocados contain beta-carotene, vitamins B, C, E and essential fats that provide vital nutrients needed for replenishing hair’s strength, moisture, and shine. The result is moisturized hair that feels wonderfully soft and elastic with significantly reduced breakage. This means longer hair growth!
