New year, new hair.
Well not really… unless you’re thinking about doing a big chop, but if that’s not in the cards for you, what other options do you have to bring dry, lack-luster natural hair back to life? An all natural, healthy hair regimen may be the solution you need!
Why do you need a healthy hair regimen?
Routines not only make life easier for you, but consistency leads to results. If you find that your current natural hair routine just isn’t doing it anymore, or you have never been someone that pays much attention to their hair but now wants to make it as healthy as it can be – then keep reading!
Remember that everyone is different, so what works for one person might not work for another, but having the basics will help you determine how often you should wash your hair when you need to deep condition, and etc.
Everyone needs a good shampoo and conditioner. You can stick to just a cleansing shampoo, like our Caribbean Coconut Milk Shampoo to wash your hair, but it might also be a good idea to have a clarifying shampoo like our Moisturizing Black Soap for those days when your hair needs a deep clean.
For conditioner, our Caribbean Coconut Milk Conditioner is super moisturizing for your average wash day, but it’s always good to have a deep conditioner on deck for when you need even more moisture. Most people deep condition every other time they wash their hair, but you may have to do this more or less depending on your hair. For low to medium porosity hair, we recommend our Honey and Sage Deep Conditioner. For high porosity, we recommend our Avocado Cream Moisture Repairing Mask.
Moisturizers are key to any healthy hair regimen. You have your daily moisturizers like our super hydrating Lemongrass Leave In Conditioner— it’s light enough that you can apply every day to replenish your curls and coils, but still packs a punch. Then you also have heavier leave-in cream moisturizers like our Dulce, Shea Yogurt, and Moisture Rich.
Oils are great for sealing in that moisture especially when combined with the LOC Method™. Depending on your hair type you’ll find that you either need a lighter oil or a heavier oil. For a lighter oil try our Pomegranate Hair Elixir. Not only does it smell amazing, but it provides moisture for thinner hair. If you have really thick hair that needs a heavier oil try our Glazed Argan Oil. It seals and fights frizz in the process.
If you are someone who likes to style your hair, then styles will be an important part of your healthy hair regimen. A lot of the time, gels can really dry out your hair because of the harsh alcohols they contain. Our Aloe Berry Styling gel is different because it doesn’t contain alcohol, so you get a nice medium hold without the crunchy dryness! Another great styler is our Creme Brulee Curling Delight. Not only does it leave your hair super defined, but it’s great for laying down your edges.
No healthy hair regimen is complete without scalp care. When your scalp is healthy, your hair is healthy too! After all, your hair does come from your scalp. Make sure your scalp is free of build up. Our Essential 17 Hair Growth Oil provides nourishing herbs and oils to your scalp while promoting hair growth!
Another great scalp care product is our Botanicals Hair and Scalp Balm. This balm is NOT a pore-clogging hair grease, but rather a 100% natural scalp treatment that relieves scalp dryness, inflammation and itchiness fast! You can actually feel the intensely hydrating properties of Babassu Oil, Peppermint Oil and Nettle working from the very first application.
And there you have it! Remember that consistency is key when developing a healthy hair regimen. Using natural products will not only make your hair look healthy, but it will nourish from within.
